This huge, light-filled spa-like is our most calming space. It wraps you in soft light, soft colors, natural textures, and quiet calm.
Trust me on this, plan a slow morning with your coffee on the plant filled balcony outside this room, it is my favorite part of the whole inn.
The room is huge and the kitchenette area is by far our largest, with big origional windows overlooking the gorgeous balcony.
The new bathroom is so very pretty and unique as the walk-in shower plays with light and shadow through it's uniquely laid travertine tile.
Fiel is the ideal space for those seeking stillness and light.
Traveling with friends? Firme is the closest room.

Faithful Lion

Guarding St. Augustine’s Bridge of Lions, Fiel (Faithful in Latin) and Firme (Firm) are majestic Carrara marble statues. Donated in 1927 by former Mayor Dr. Andrew Anderson II, these exact replicas of Florence's historic Medici Lions have become iconic symbols of the city’s strength and resilience and are the reason this Inn is called Lions and Lanterns.
When I bought The Old Saragossa Inn (before renaming it Lions and Lanterns) it was a Bed and Breakfast. This room was the dinning room, which is why the kitchen area is so spacious.
Not willing to torture you with my cooking, or deprive you of the fantastic breakfast places in town (hello Roosevelt Room/Modern Rose and Sunday Gathering Table) I dropped the price, got rid of breakfast and made this room into the most calming spa-like space in the inn.
The bathrooms of Fiel and Firme mirror each other and turned out so wonderful. So much of my story with this inn is about me having to force my unique ideas on bewildered contractors and these rooms were no different. One contractor said he would not tile the travertine in the bathroom the way I wanted because it would look like it was tiled poorly so I had to find someone who would. I'll let you be the judge of it when you get here. ☺️
