Lions and Lanterns Inn - Castillo Room

Castillo

Castillo is our boldest room, earthy, tactile, and powerful. The room is gorgeous, with original hardwood floors, warm accents, woven light, and homemade tiles in the kitchen.

A textured wall stretches behind the huge, heavy, solid wood bed. It echos coquina, the shell stone that built this town and made the Castillo De San Marcos, impossible to conquer. That fort, for which this room was named, is just three fantastic old-world blocks away.

The bathroom takes a bold turn with deep black walls creating contrast and mood against the soft neutrals outside.

Right outside your door is the front screened-in porch with rocking chairs, perfect for rainy or bug-less nights outside.

This room is for people who want something strong, warm and unexpected.

Traveling with friends? Isabel is the closest room.

A Little Bit

of History

From Josie,

Castillo was the first time during the remodel I truly trusted my design above anything else.

Many people, including neighbors, and every contractor/handyman that came through the inn tried to get me to cut corners with that texture wall.

After I had sprayed the texture on six times (with a week of drying time in between) Adam, my lovely ex-husband/ex-business partner said, "Ok, now that's good right?" After I has sprayed it nine times Brad, my neighbor, said, "You have to know when to quit," and after twelve times Charlie, my carpenture, said, "Josie, even I think you should be done now." Everyone was so worried about "getting it open," and losing money and in some instance before Castillo I caved to those pressures, but I knew what I wanted here and I knew I was right.

That's what makes this room so special to me.

I am also proud of the kitchen tiles I poured from molds I found and fell in love with and the bed design, but please, watch the calves! She is solid wood!
