Frequently Asked Questions

What is your payment and cancellation policy?

Important – Updated 09/08/2025

No one cancels a reservation for an easy reason and we care a great deal about you and about your loved ones.

As a very small business, each reservation is important to us, and last-minute changes have a significant impact that we simply can’t absorb. The balance of your reservation will be charged to the card on file 7 days prior to your arrival date (or immediately upon booking if within 7 days).

You may cancel your reservation up to 7 days prior. No refunds can be given outside of this.

The only exceptions will be days that Florida declares a state of emergency due to weather.

If your card is declined we will call for a new one and will hold the room for two days so you have time to get back to us.

What happens if I need to depart early?

While we would be sad to see you depart early, we do not pro-rate reservations. You will be charged for the entire stay as booked.

Do you offer celebrations?

We don’t charge for making special occasions memorable for our guests. In fact, we’ve intentionally chosen not to offer celebrations, decorations, or romantic packages as a service.

Lions and Lanterns is, quite literally, a one-woman operation. Because there isn’t a team behind the scenes handling event planning or room styling, I simply don’t have the manpower to consistently provide customized celebrations for every special occasion. More importantly, I want this part of Lions and Lanterns to remain creative, generous, and organic rather than something that can be booked, ordered, or expected.

There are many wonderful inns that specialize in curated celebrations and decorative packages, and I encourage guests seeking that experience to explore those options. There are also event teams that will happily come and set something up here.

That said, yes, sometimes inspiration strikes and I love love more than most people. If you’ve seen photos online of beautifully decorated rooms or unexpected surprises, those moments were spontaneous gestures created in response to a particular guest, story, or moment in time. They were never part of a package and were not guaranteed or expected.

Please don’t arrive expecting elaborate decorations or planned celebrations. Instead, come to enjoy each other, slow down, and be present. The magic of this place has never been in balloons, rose petals, or packages, it’s in the experience itself. Love your partner, stay curious, and make room for wonder. Sometimes the most meaningful moments are the ones nobody planned.

 Is breakfast included?

Rather than asking guests to endure Josie’s cooking, we encourage our guests to wake up at their leisure and explore the many delicious dishes at local restaurants! Roosevelt Room's Eggs Benedict for instance. 🤤 They also only put a Spalsh of OJ in their mimosas! Oh! Or the wild mushroom toast at Sunday's Gathering Table!

We also added kitchenettes to each suite if you want to bring things for breakfast.

 Can I park a vehicle?

Our driveway is on the right side of the house. We have one free parking space in our lot per room.

 What time is check-in / check-out?

Check in is at 3pm, and check out is at 11am.

 Are children allowed to stay?

We relish the opportunity to give parents time to be themselves, so leave the younger kiddos at home and come rediscover each other! Kids over 12 are welcome so long as they're ok sharing a bed with their parents. 😁

Will my room be serviced during my stay?

Your room will not be disturbed during your stay at Lions & Lanterns unless you have specific housekeeping requests. If you’d like a mid-stay-room-refresh just say the word!

Do you allow pets on the property?

No pets are allowed in Fiel or Firme and the rooms at Lions and Lanterns don't share HVAC. If you are allergic to animals, those are your rooms.

We, too, love anything furry with a leg at each corner.

Please note that there is an additional fee that we will need to manually add to your reservation of $50/night. It is your responsibility to tell us about pets before you arrive and because it is so important for us to plan and clean the room in a special way after each and every pet, if animals show up without us knowing in advance it will be $100/night.

You will be fully responsible for any damages and must be available 24/7 to come back to the inn if there is any barking or other behavior that indicates distress. If guests don't answer or return to the inn immediately upon a distressed animal, we will enter the room and do what we need to comfort the animal and quiet it for the comfort of other guests, including removing it to another location onsite and guests will be asked to leave upon returning.

We want to continue to allow pets to be here with us, but we must do so responsibly and we expect you to also. ♥️ 🐕

  Is there a pool?

We wish!

Is smoking allowed at the inn?

For the comfort of all, smoking is not allowed on the property. This includes cigarettes, cigars, vaping, e-cigarettes, medical marijuana and other non-tobacco products. In addition, we request that guests do not light candles, or incense. A cleaning fee of $250 will be charged if the room requires additional cleaning due to smoking (this includes medical marijuana).
